Thailand Updates Visa Rules to Welcome Indian Travelers

Thailand recently announced major changes to its visa rules to attract more visitors from India. The Thai Cabinet approved these updates on February 13, 2026. These changes make it much easier for Indians to visit, work, and study in the country.

The most significant update is the new 60-day visa-free entry. Previously, Indian tourists could stay for 30 days without a visa. Now, travelers can enjoy double that time. This rule applies to tourism, quick business meetings, and short-term work trips. It helps Thailand compete with other popular destinations like Singapore and Malaysia.

The government also launched the “Destination Thailand Visa” for online workers. This visa is valid for five years and allows multiple entries. Digital nomads and remote workers can stay for up to 180 days per visit. This is a great option for tech freelancers and startup founders who want to live in Thailand for a few months at a time.

Students also have new opportunities. The “ED Plus” visa enables Indian students to participate in study and internship programs. To streamline travel, Thailand simplified its visa categories and expanded its electronic visa platform. Travelers will no longer face long queues at visa centers in cities like Delhi and Mumbai. New digital arrival cards and facial-recognition gates will also speed up the process at airports. Experts expect these changes to result in a record number of Indian visitors this year. With more flights available, traveling to Thailand is now easier than ever.
