Air India is making significant upgrades to its international flights this summer. Consequently, travelers can expect more frequent flights, better cabins, and Premium Economy options on several popular routes.
Increased Frequency to Major Cities
The airline is boosting capacity on key routes starting this March.
- Toronto: Delhi-Toronto flights will increase to 10 per week. As a result, this adds over 2,000 monthly seats for Canada-bound travelers.
- Seoul: Weekly flights from Delhi will rise from five to six on March 29.
- Shanghai: Similarly, this route will now operate five times a week, up from four.
The Return of Luxury Travel
Air India is also reintroducing First Class suites for long-haul flights.
- Melbourne: From July 1, the Delhi-Melbourne route will resume First Class service.
- Aircraft: The Boeing 777-300ER used for this route includes eight First Class suites and 40 Business seats. Therefore, this change alone adds nearly 4,000 monthly seats to Australia.

Expanded Cabin Options
Premium Economy is now available on more routes across the network.
- Tokyo: Passengers to Tokyo Haneda have enjoyed Premium Economy since February 14.
- London: Bengaluru to London Heathrow will get this upgrade in August. Additionally, the Mumbai-London Heathrow route will switch to modern aircraft in July.
- New Interiors: Notably, all London Heathrow flights will now feature completely new cabin interiors.
Fleet Modernization
The airline is currently retrofitting 26 older Boeing 787-8 aircraft. These planes will feature fresh seats and updated entertainment systems. Furthermore, five brand-new aircraft will join the fleet in 2026. These modern aircraft offer quieter cabins and better cabin pressure to reduce jet lag.
A Milestone Year
CEO Campbell Wilson calls 2026 a milestone year for the airline. By August, more than half of the North American flights will have upgraded cabins. Ultimately, Air India is transforming into a world-class carrier while taking passenger comfort seriously.
